Orheiul Vechi (Old Orhei) is a natural and historical complex set in a dramatic loop of the Răut River. High limestone cliffs rise above the valley, with carved caves, monasteries and small villages scattered along the slopes.

Many visitors come on a half‑day or full‑day trip from Chișinău, combining gentle walks with a visit to the cave monastery and a traditional lunch in a local guesthouse.
